Can you tell us about Forgemaster and what you do?
Forgemaster is a well-established South Yorkshire company. We’ve been making forgings and castings and we’ve been around for around 200 years so, we’re an established part of the steel industry in Sheffield. We established our reputation in oil and gas as a business, supplying castings for the North Sea platforms probably 20 to 30 years ago and so the UK’s sector has been very good to us. However, it is quite a mature market now and the prospects for growth there are limited which is why we’ve come out here. In contrast this part of the world has some very good potential for the future. We had a very good project here about 5 or 6 years ago which got us a lot of business and we’d like to repeat that so in terms of comparing the two sectors I’d have to say that we see more longer-term potential in this part of the world than we do in the UK.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for the future?
We are looking to grow our oil and gas business across the world and as the market recovers, we see potential here to replicate what we’ve done in the past and hopefully profit from the up term which is coming in this part of the world.
