ESS Offshore & Remote – the leading food and support services provider to the offshore sector raised awareness of the high level of local Aberdeenshire suppliers’ products incorporated within its menus for both on and offshore workers at a recent event at its client Premier Oil’s office.
Four years ago, ESS tasked themselves with doing more to support local suppliers and introduce some of the great range of quality produce that’s available locally. Today it’s served to both clients based in the North Sea and to oil and gas related onshore client’s offices forming an integral part of the core ESS food offer.
The event at Premier Oil’s Aberdeen office in Kingswells, included cookery demonstrations from Compass Scotland Culinary Director, Graham Singer, supported by ESS chefs Gordon Mackenzie and Chris Macleod, who was recently named Compass Senior Chef of the Year.
Premier Oil employees were served award-winning food from The Bay Fish & Chips, based in Stonehaven. Other local companies including Amity Fish Co, Rora Dairies, JG Ross, Lomond Fine Foods, Grants of Speyside and Summerhouse Drinks provided tasters and information on the products they supply to ESS Offshore & Remote.
Employees also took part in a gingerbread house building competition, with the winners taking home a Grants of Speyside hamper. ESS Offshore & Remote nutritionist, Leanne King, provided information about the company’s award-winning bespoke health and wellbeing programme, and event attendees had the chance to make a bike-powered smoothie to highlight the amount of energy required to make a drink.
Ronnie Kelman, business director at ESS Offshore & Remote, said: “It is so important to highlight the great partnerships we enjoy with local suppliers to our clients. Their employees are the ones who consume our suppliers’ products, and this was a great opportunity for them to ‘meet the makers’.
“Our region has an abundance of excellent local produce, which helps us to form our balanced menus. I’m delighted we had the opportunity to showcase some of our local suppliers to Premier Oil.”
Phil Cruickshank, Production Operations Manager at Premier Oil said: “We like to choose responsible suppliers and partners and were thrilled to have ESS Offshore & Remote in to highlight the companies they use to serve our staff offshore. Good, nutritional food is so important when you are working in an offshore environment.”
