Over the past few years companies have had to look to new technological advancements to identify efficiency and cost savings. With the changing environment digital technologies have the potential to transform operations and create additional profits from existing capacity whilst looking at how companies build on this.

This session will be a facilitated panel of speakers, the OGV panel will seek to provide an insight into how on-going industry initiatives and new technologies can deliver cost reductions and increased production while retaining existing personnel.


Damian Bates

Damian Bates is a consultant, author and journalist. He currently runs his own successful reputation management consultancy, Abraitis and Co, focusing on strategic leadership, communications and public affairs. He is also chairman of international B2B marketing company, Fifth Ring. Damian has been an editor-in-chief, editor and journalist for more than 28 years and has co-authored a book on the President of the United States which is to be published this summer in the USA.


Thomas Sunde

VP Technology at Subsea 7

Thomas has been with Subsea 7 since 1997. A Masters graduate in Marine Technology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, he began his career with Statoil before moving to Subsea 7. In Subsea 7, he has held various roles in both the engineering, project management and commercial functions, including VP Sales & Marketing for both APME and NSC regions. Thomas has been Vice President for Technology for Subsea 7 since 2015.

David Currie

Chief Executive Officer at Proserv

David has over 30 years’ experience in the energy industry and joined Proserv in May 2018 as its chief executive officer. Prior to joining Proserv, David was CEO of JDR Cable Systems for three years. David has also held the position of UK president for Aker Solutions, leading a combination of Aker’s portfolio businesses across the subsea, topsides and engineering sectors. David started his career at FMC Technologies Inc and served with them for 29 years, latterly in Houston, as director of global subsea operations (2010-2013) and previously as managing director in the UK and as a member of the Eastern Hemisphere executive team. David has lived and worked across diverse international locations including France, Germany, Russia and the USA, involving significant travel across key global energy markets.

Steve Hamilton

Technology Manager, Xodus’

Steve Hamilton has more than 25 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. With a background in process engineering, flow assurance operability and optimisation, Steve is currently responsible for the company’s technology division including the development of tools and products to the global upstream market. He was previously Xodus’ regional managing director for the Middle East and Asia Pacific and global director of production assurance.

Roderick A. Larson

President and Chief Executive Officer of Oceaneering International

Roderick A. Larson serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Oceaneering International, Inc., a global provider of engineered services and products, primarily to the offshore energy industry. Through the use of its applied technology expertise, Oceaneering also serves the defense, aerospace and commercial theme park industries. Oceaneering is traded on the NYSE and had revenues of $2.0 billion for the year ended December 31, 2017. Oceaneering has approximately 8,200 employees working in locations around the world. Mr. Larson joined Oceaneering in May 2012 after 22 years with Baker Hughes, Inc., most recently as President, Latin America. Mr. Larson is on the Oceaneering Board of Directors and serves on the boards of Newpark Resources, Inc., CanCare of Houston, American Petroleum Institute, Jones Partners, Petroleum Equipment Services Association, and National Ocean Industries Association. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Rice University Professional Science Masters Program and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Mr. Larson has been married to Lynne Larson for over 20 years, and they have two sons. He enjoys hunting, music, and leisure time with his family.
